Setting a Pulse considers hidden forces of electromagnetism. Images of lightning are paired with photograms depicting magnetism. Long exposures capture multiple lightning strikes on a single frame to represent the electrostatic event overtime. Photograms were made in a wet darkroom on a variety of vintage and contemporary photographic gelatin silver papers. Using materials (rocks, silt, metals) collected from specific environments and activated through magnetic force, I’m interested in particles and energy reorganizing through invisible phenomena of the everyday.
